Deals were stuck at the UNP chairman’s house. Mr Vajira Abeywardena’s house saw several members of parliament being in and out. Figures offered range between 25,000,000 and 40,000,000 LKR (US$ 75,000 to US$ 100,000). The veterans and senior members – the torch bearers were promised between USD 75K and USD 100K equivalent in Rupees. Others were offered LKR 20m which was haggled up by most MPs to 25m.
