கதிர்காமரின் படுகொலை – அனைவருக்கும் ஓர் விழிப்புணர்வுக்கான அழைப்பு
பல நிலவுகளுக்கு முன்பு, உருவாகிக் கொண்டிருந்த P-TOMS மற்றும் அது தொடர்பான பிரச்சினைகள் குறித்து சத்தியா தனது கடைசிக் கட்டுரையை எழுதியபோது, அதை இவ்வாறு முடித்திருந்தார்:
“அடுத்த முறை தான் விழித்தெழும் வரையில் சத்தியா தனது ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கத்திற்குத் திரும்புகிறார். அப்போது அது மரண ஓசையாக அல்லாமல், அமைதியின் மணியோசையாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே நம்பிக்கை.”
அவரது கட்டுரை எழுதப்பட்ட பின்னரே P-TOMS ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்திடப்பட்டிருந்தாலும், சத்தியாவை விழித்தெழச் செய்தது நிச்சயமாக அமைதியின் மணியோசை அல்ல. மாறாக, அது இலங்கையின் வெளியுறவு அமைச்சர் லக்ஷ்மன் கதிர்காமரின் படுகொலையை அறிவித்த மரண ஓசையாக இருந்தது.
அவர் இன்னொரு தமிழர் என்பதைக் காட்டிலும், இலங்கையின் வெளியுறவு அமைச்சராக இருந்தவர் என்பதே இங்கு முக்கியமானது. விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் பயங்கரவாத மற்றும் அழிவுவாதப் போராட்ட முறையை அவர் கடுமையாக விமர்சித்தார். அதேவேளை, இலங்கையின் தமிழர் பிரச்சினைக்கு நீதியானதும் சமத்துவமானதுமான தீர்வு காணப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற நிலைப்பாட்டையும் அதே அளவு வலிமையுடன் முன்வைத்தார்.
தங்களது “இறுதி இலக்கை” நோக்கிய பாதையில் குறுக்கிடுபவர்களின் உயிர்களைப் பறிப்பதை விடுதலைப் புலிகள் செய்தனர்; தொடர்ந்து செய்வார்கள் என்பதும் — அதன் விளைவாக தமிழர் மக்களுக்கு அது பேரழிவைக் கொண்டுவரும் என்பதும் — தெளிவானது.
எனவே, விடுதலைப் புலிகளை கண்டிப்பதில் தனது நேரத்தையும் இடத்தையும் சத்தியா வீணடிக்க விரும்பவில்லை. அது ஒரு சடங்காகவே மாறிவிட்டது — விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் சடங்குபோன்ற, இரத்தம் தோய்ந்த கொலைகளைப் போலவே. புலி தனது வரிகளை மாற்றிக் கொள்வதற்காக அறியப்பட்டதல்ல.
சத்தியா செய்ய விரும்புவது, அமைதிச் செயல்முறையில் நேரடியாகவோ மறைமுகமாகவோ ஈடுபட்டுள்ள முக்கியமான தரப்புகளின் எதிர்வினைகளைப் பற்றி சிந்திப்பதே — அரசாங்கம், நோர்வே, சர்வதேச சமூகம் மற்றும் “அமைதித் தரப்பு” என்று அழைக்கப்படுபவர்கள் — இவர்களின் நிலைப்பாடுகள் என்ன, அவற்றின் விளைவுகள் என்ன என்பதைக் குறித்து ஆராய்வதே.
Kadirgamar’s Assassination – A wake-up call to all
When Sathya wrote his last column many moons ago on the emerging P-TOMS and issues related to it, he signed off by declaring, “Sathya returns to his deep slumber till the next time he is woken up. Hopefully, then it would be the sound of the peace tolls and not the death knell.” Although the P-TOMS had been signed after his column was written, it was certainly not the peace tolls that woke him up. It was instead the death knell announcing the assassination of Lakshman Kadirgamar, yet another Tamil, but more so the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka whose criticism of the LTTE’s terrorist and nihilist method of struggle did not deter him from equally forcibly arguing the case for a just and an equitable settlement to the Tamil Question in Sri Lanka. That the LTTE did it and will continue to snuff the lives of those who stand in their way to their path to kingdom come (and doomsday to the Tamil People). And, therefore Sathya does not intend wasting his time and space in condemning the LTTE. It is as ritualistic as the ritual and gory killings of the LTTE. The Tiger is not known to change its stripes. What Sathya intends doing is to reflect on the responses by key actors involved in the peace process, directly or indirectly – the Government, Norway and the International Community and the so-called Peace Constituency and their implications.
